Lovey Dovey Heart

For the lovebirds. Our Lovey Dovey canvas features cream doves, olive sprigs and rich red lettering nestled inside a blush-pink heart.

A sweet little love note in needlepoint, it’s a lovely project to stitch for your favourite person or yourself. Finish it as a heart-shaped ornament for a wedding, anniversary or Valentine’s Day keepsake, or simply to add a little love to your home.

Our example was stitched using a variety of techniques and threads:

- French knots for the olive sprig leaves

- diagonal trip Parisian for the background

- beading for the dove’s eyes

- Petite Very Velvet thread for the lettering

Thread suggestion:

Silk & Ivory, used as a single strand. Brown Paper Packages lists it for 13 to 18 mesh. On 18 mesh a skein covers a little less (about 97 cm², against 129 cm² on 13 mesh, by the maker's estimate), so allow a bit extra and stitch a small test patch first to check the coverage.
